GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL FOR THORACIC MEDICINE,
This Hospital was inaugurated as a TB Sanatorium in 1960 by the then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Shri.K.KAMARAJ, at a sprawling space, 18kms from Government Rajaji Hospital.
Being conceived as a sanatorium, it catered mainly to the TB patients who need 18 months of therapy then.
The Sanatorium was integrated with the Department of Thoracic Medicine at Government Rajaji Hospital from 1990.
The Professor of TB &Chest Diseases, Madurai Medical College was anointed as the Superintendent of the Sanatorium by a Government Order.
