DEPARTMENT OF RADIODIAGNOSIS
 
                  The Department of RADIOLOGY provides imaging services to the entire hospital with conventional radiological investigations, digital X-Ray, ultrasound, Doppler , spiral CT scan& MRI scan . It also provides diagnostic & therapeutic interventional services.
 
HISTORY:
                               History of Radiology goes way back to 1960, started with PROF.DR.SWAMINATHAN as Head Of The Department.
Initially it was started with conventional x-ray alone.

Now the department is well equipped with :

                        Conventional X-ray units                   -  8
                        Mammography X-ray unit                 -  1
                        Digital x-ray                                      -  1
                        2D ultrasound machine                     -  2
                        Colour Doppler ultrasound                 -  2
                        Single slice CT                                   -  1
                        4 slice CT scan                                  -  1
                        64 slice CT scan                                -  1
                        MRI – 1.5tesla-1
Recently PACS system was installed in August 2012.
 
ACADEMIC:

11 DMRD Post graduates are joined every year.

Every year 2 CME’s are conducted by the MADURAI ALUMINI RADIOLOGICAL SOCIETY.

Ultrasound training is given to doctors from nearby PHCs throughout the year.
 
PARAMEDICAL COURSES:

DRDT course was started in 2012

Every year 10 seats are allotted for DRDT courses

CRA course was started in 1960

Every year 10 seats are allotted for CRA courses
