History  :
                                    The department of Physiology started functioning in 1954 with Professor Dr. C. Venkataramiah, M.B.B.S., M.Sc., as the  Head of the Department, Dr. Mrs. S.Parvathi Devi, M.B.B.S., M.Sc., took over as Professor and Head of the Department in 1960. She guided all the activities for nearly 25 years history of the Department. Research papers were being presented regularly by staff of the department at the Regional and Annual Conference of the Association of Physiologists of India, Indian Psychiatric Society and at the 26th International Congress of Physiological Sciences, at New Delhi.
 
            The Department of Physiology has been upgraded as Institute of Physiology as per G.O.M. No. 1860 dated 1.11.80.
