College of Nursing

HISTORY 
  • The College of Nursing was inaugurated on December 2003 
  • Our philosophy states that Education for professional nursing is achieved through a curriculum that unifies the essential phenomena of interest in nursing: the concepts of nursing, health, person and environment. 
  • Mission of the department is that The College of Nursing is committed to excellence in nursing education, clinical practice, nursing research, and community service. The College prepares nursing students to be effective clinicians and leaders who will work to improve the health and health care of the people of  Tamilnadu and beyond, and contribute to the nursing profession through professional, scholarly, legal, and political activities. 
  • The College of Nursing is a flourishing centre of nursing education, research, scholarship, and service for practice. Our graduates will be clinicians, leaders, researchers, and scholars who are highly competent, grounded in a sense of inquiry, and committed to human caring. Students and faculty will collaborate in the discovery. integration, application, and dissemination of knowledge in nursing. Clinical excellence will be enhanced through collaboration and partnerships within the University and the community. 
  • College of Nursing is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University 
  • College of Nursing is attached to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. 
  • Clinical Services are provided by the Government Rajaji Hospital which is a 2218 bedded Super Speciality Hospital providing free health care to people in the lower income group. 
  • Nursing quarters were modified and has been utilized as college building from the time of inspection. 
  • The institute has adequate infrastructure, laboratory and library facilities which are needed for both Nursing UG/PG.
 
PRESENT STATUS OF THE DEPARTMENT
  • Now Govt has sanctioned 8.5 crores for the construction of new unitary  building for College of Nursing  including Hostel, which will be constructed shortly. 
  • At present institution runs both Nursing UG/PG courses with all needed facilities to enhance the quality of Nursing education given.

  • The institution have all the facilities adequately to provide quality education and training for nursing students. Institution have adequate classroom facilities for both UG/PG courses. 
  • College of Nursing is attached to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai where the clinical services for the students are provided. 
  • Clinical Services are provided by the Government Rajaji Hospital which is a 2218 bedded Super Speciality Hospital providing free health care to people in the lower income group. 
  • For the PG courses students are well trained in their specialization by adequate hours of exposure in to their concerned department. GRH, Madurai.
